Phoenix Entertainment is casting for the national tours of:


The Pajama Game
and
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

                 
                 The Pajama Game is a one year contract starting in August 2008
            The 25th…Spelling Bee is a one year contract starting in September 2008

These productions are non union tours making week long, split week
 and one night stops all over the U.S. and Canada.
Competitive salary, perdiem, housing and travel are included.

THE PAJAMA GAME
Seeking- Sid Sorokin: handsome, masculine leading man, hard working superintendent of the pajama factory, finds himself torn between Babe and his job, high baritone; Babe Williams: attractive, feisty leader of the union grievance committee who falls in love with Sid yet stays true to her beliefs, bright musical theatre belt; Mr. Hassler: strict, penny pinching president of the Sleep-Tite pajama factory, sees no need for an employee raise; Gladys: Hassler's quirky, sexy, quick-witted secretary who holds the key to the books and Hines heart, good mover/dancer, character alto; Hines: an efficiency expert, in love with Gladys but can not trust her for no reason but his own insecurity, good mover/dancer, character baritone to f; Prez: quirky, woman chasing president of the union, good mover/dancer, high baritone; Mabel: Sids sassy and fun secretary, strong character voice; Pop/Max: character actor to play Babes kindly pop and a traveling pajama salesman; Mae: a strong minded factory employee and member of the grievance committee, likes to have a beer with the guys; Poopsie : spunky, cute factory employee, loves employee activities, dancer; Male/Female Ensemble: various types, attractive with strong voices, personality and good movement/dance ability to play factory workers, Steam Heat dancers, etc.
Ensemble members will also understudy principal roles. Performers of all ages and ethnicities are encouraged to attend. All performers must be over 18 years of age.

THE 25TH…SPELLING BEE
Seeking- William Barfee: A finalist last year, but eliminated because of health reasons that effect his speech, a very confident speller, his famous “Magic Foot” method of spelling had boosted him to spelling glory, his quirks make him off putting to others, character singer; Leaf Coneybear: a runner-up in his district, he comes from a large family of former hippies and makes his own clothes. He’s not really that smart, but his heart is in the right place, quirky, Bari-tenor character singer; Marcy Park: A recent transfer, Marcy placed 9th in last year’s nationals, speaking 6 languages is one of many things she excels at, is getting very tired of always winning and being the best at everything she does, belt with mix; Chip Tolentino: Champion of the 24th annual Spelling Bee, he returns to defend his title, but he finds puberty hitting at the most inopportune moments causing crippling distractions, tenor to to A or A-flat; Olive Ostrovsky: the pretty, sweet, soft spoken young newcomer to the spelling world. Her mother is in on a spiritual quest in India and her father is working late, as usual, mixed belt; Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre: the youngest and most politically aware speller, with two very enthusiastic stage dads. Speaks with a lisp, character singer; Mitch Mahoney: the official comfort counselor. Mitch is serving his community service with the Bee, thuggish demeanor but he has a knack for hugs and handing out juice boxes, baritone; Rona Lisa Peretti: top realtor in Putnam County, a former Putnam County Spelling Bee champ (at the 3rd annual Bee) and returning moderator. Sweet but stern, loves language, education and the spellers, mezzo/mix belt; Vice Principal Douglas Panch: after a five year absence (due to his temper) from the Bee, he is back as word pronouncer and judge, addresses the spellers in a dry, direct fashion, due to an “incident” at the 20th annual Bee, this is his first year back, a creative actor with good improv skills.  NOTE: characters range in age from teenagers to adult but will be played by adult actors. Performers of all ethnicities are encouraged to attend.
